Carnarvon Gorge Astronomy
Explore the night sky in one of our hands-on astronomy sessions.
Moon Struck and Star Struck
Carnarvon Gorge’s dark skies, far from major sources of light pollution, ensure we get fabulous views of our home galaxy, The Milky Way!
Allow Simon to take you on a guided exploration of our Solar System and beyond, using a range of optics, most of which you get to operate yourself.
Planets, star systems, globular clusters, open clusters, galaxies and nebulae are all fair game, but when you choose to visit the Gorge will determine which objects are visible. Every night is unique!
Bring your digital camera and use our equipment and expertise to take home some images of the objects you view.
Explore the universe at your own pace as your questions direct where we point the scopes.
So, will you be visiting during one of our Moon Struck or Star Struck Astronomy sessions? Check out the calendar at the bottom of this page!
"We went for the gliders and we weren't disappointed. Watched many yellow bellied gliders and four greater gliders. The highlight was seeing three full glides. Magical stuff!"

Star Struck OR Moon Struck
Two astronomy tours designed for brighter and darker moon phases.
Star Struck will run during the darker phases of the moon, allowing us to target dark sky objects like like faint nebulae or galaxies.
Moon Struck will run on our brightest nights as we approach the full moon. Bright objects, like the moon and star clusters, will be our focus. Plus, you’ll be able to take spectacular closeups of the moon on your phone through our telescopes.
Astronomy Schedule
Decisions, decisions! Moon Struck or Star Struck?
